Jennifer Rene Psaki is a American political advisor who served as the 34th White House news secretary between 2021 and 221. A member of Democratic Party she has previously worked in the Obama administration as White House deputy press secretary (2009), White House deputy director of communications (2009–2011) and the spokesperson of the United States Department of State(2013-2015) and White House communication director (2015–2017). Psaki worked as a CNN political contributor between 2017 and 2020. Psaki's career began in 2001 when she worked on behalf of the reelection campaigns for Tom Harkin, an Iowa Democrat running for the U.S. Senate. Psaki was later appointed the deputy press secretary of John Kerry's campaign for president in 2004. Psaki was the director of communications for Joseph Crowley in the U.S. and also as the regional press secretary for Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. In 2012, Psaki returned to political communications as press secretary for Obama's reelection campaign for 2012. In the year 2000, Psaki became the spokesperson for United States Department of State. The speculations that she would be replacing Jay Carney White House Press secretary once he left for the White House[21] were fuelled by her hire by the Department of State. However, Josh Earnest was announced as Carney's replacement on May 30th in 2014. The White House welcomed her back to the White House in 2015 as the director of communications, and she was there until the end of Obama's presidency.
